[[ HISTORY OF RELEASES ]]
9-91 7.1B Added code that should prevent a lockup
or 'Corrupted Callers File' error when
processing 'Noisy' callers files.
Fixed the pause at the end of bulletin 8.
(Time Graph)
6-91 7.10 Added commenting to parameter file
Added a /w switch for registered users
that inhibits updn writing to the screen
6-91 7.00 Added New Bulletin # 9 that lists
Top 30 Door Users
Convert utility to convert old
data files to ver 7.0 format.
Finally updn has multinode support.
(for REGISTERED users)
Fixed the bug in bulletin 8 that prevented
the page break from working after the graph.
The CR LF should be after the page break
instead of before it.
Added a switch (/a) that will allow the user
to append a bulletin to an existing bulletin
without overwriting the original.
Updn will now keep track of the last record
of the callers file and start reading
from the first new record. This will speed
up the execution considerably as the whole
callers file will not have to be read each
time.
3-91 6.6D Made some code changes to improve error
checking. Added NEW address to code and
docs.
12-90 6.6C Added the ability to enable registered features
by placing a registration number in line 16 of
the parameter file. That registration number must
be matched to the BBS name in line 5. (Case sensitive)
Registered users will receive their numbers from the
info on their registration forms. Write or leave
me a message if you need a new number or want
your number sooner. Be sure to indicate your
BBS name exactly as it appears in line 5 of
your parameter file. (registered users only)
11-90 6.6B Improved the ability to recover from
a corrupted callers files (non-text stuff).
Corrected a glitch that messed the display
in the user stats bulletin if the downloaded
or uploaded bytes were displayed in scientific
notation.
10-90 6.6A Corrected a bug that could abort the program
under certain conditions giving an errorlevel
of 7. Trouble reading callers file.
Many Thanks to Jeff Alberts of Helm's Deep
BBS for helping locate this bug.
If you are an old user run CONVERT.EXE
to convert bulletin 7 & 8 data files.
The format has been changed slightly.
Use of the old files with the new program
could cause errors.
9/90 6.6 Corrected a bug that crashed the program when
run against a corrupted callers file. The
program now will hopefully terminate with
an error code.
Fixed glitches that messed up bulletins
for new boards with less than 15 users in
bulletins and less than 30 files in the files
bulletin. Bulletins should now print properly
regardless of number of users or files.
Added colors and borders option for bulletin 5
(User Statistics). It looks nicer now. Don't
forget to edit your parameter file to enable the
new options.
Sorry folks. Had to add a keyboard input to
terminate the program for the non registered
version. That's the only difference between
the versions. This makes batch file operation
difficult. Again I am sorry that I have to resort
to this, but there are too many people using
the program without registering it. It takes
the fun out of programming.
6/90 6.4 .EXE file dated 6/30/90
Fixed a formating error in bulletin 8, pt. 1
6/90 6.4 .EXE file dated 6/21/90
Minor bug fixes. Original version would
write a garbage bulletin 3 if you had less
than 30 files. This version won't write it.
6/90 6.4 .EXE file dated 6/4/90
Computers don't like their heap space messed
so I decided to change the code that may cause
that. The bug could cause various weird things
to happen.
6/90 6.2 Some minor glitches fixed. Hey, it's my
first program in 'C'. Program now will
terminate with an error level of 0 for a successful
run and set an error level for an aborted run.
6/90 6.0 The program has been entirely rewritten in C and
assembly language. This should remove the
limitations imposed by compiled basic, but will
probably produce some new bugs. Some new bugs were
discovered and fixed during the rewrite.
Changed the opening banner.
Removed the Top 30 data files convert code to save
space. If you have pre v. 5.6 data files run version
5.8 to convert the files and then switch to 6.0.
All data files should now be written in the directory
that contains the parameter file.
Fixed a bug that miscalculated the daily time use in
bulletin 8.
Added moving ansi border option (follow frame type by
letter M) for bulletins 1236 and 1/2 of bulletin 8.
Please note that at 1200 baud and lower these will
take a much longer time to display.
Added a command line option /c or /b that will force
color or mono if the program is not sensing the correct
graphics adapter.
Many users are combining callers files from different
nodes before running updn. If you do this make sure
the files are in the proper sequence so updn will read
the dates from the records correctly. Also, you will
probably get over 100 % utilization in bulletin 8.
I'll try to include multinode support in a future
version.
5.8 Very minor fix. docs and other files not
changed.
2/90 5.7 Bug fix that prevented proper listing
from users file that ommitted names in
some of the bulletins.
2/90 5.6 Lot's of changes.
A new bulletin (8) which has two pages. Page one
is a table with time use statistics.
Page two is a graph showing calls vs time of day.
The total number users listed in bulletin (4) is
now appended to the end of the bulletin.
The file count data files for the top 30 files have
been changed to ascii format. The program will
automatically change the old data files to the new
format. This allows the sysop to edit the data files
and make changes as necessary to the top 30 files
downloaded bulletin. See above for details.
My next change, other then bug fixes, will
be to speed up reading of the callers file.
It's much too slow.
1/90 5.4 Some refining to shorten code and refine opening
banner.
1/90 5.3 Some minor bug fixes - minor doc changes
A new opening banner that opens and closes
like a curtain.
12/89 5.2 Corrected a possible but unlikely input past end
of file that could occur while reading callers
file in bulletin 7
Documentation rewritten and spruced up by
Tom Hazel (Info-Quest BBS). Many Thanks,
Tom.
Corrected out of string space errors that occurred
with large users files. Thanks to Jim Mountain (HandiLine BBS.)
12/89 5.1 Corrected a bug that aborted program if less
than 30 files exist in the Top 30 files bulletin
12/89 5.0 Added switch to exclude assistant sysops from
inclusion in the bulletins.
Corrected a bug that messed up users last names
when they contained a space.
Added Bulletin 7 which is sysop configurable
through a config. file. (Thanks to Tom Hazel -
Info-Quest BBS for the idea)
Added a No frame option for bulletins
10/89 4.6 Shortened the user bulletin by 2 columns so that
it would look ok on the local screen. ( a bug in
RBBS caused it to skip lines on the local screen
print even though it was correct to the user -
too many people thought that the user was seeing
the distorted bulletin so it was easier to remove
two columns than it was to fix RBBS ).
Added more windows and messages to tell what
the program is doing. You have to be fast or have a
slow computer to read some of them, but it will
be easier to tell where the program bombs.
9/89 4.40 Decided I like even numbers.
Added more messages to indicate what program
was doing.
Allowed for larger callers files. (Some seem
to get quite large)
Corrected a problem that caused an error
in the top 30 file list when the callers
file listed the path as well as the name of the
file. (Thanks to John Rock - Tandy Tavern BBS)
8/89 4.20 - Fixed a bug that would cause data files to have
same name and overwrite each other.
Corrected a bug that caused the same file
name to be counted separately in the Top 30
list. (Thanks to Jerry Toler - Dixieland BBS)
Version 4.00 - Decided to start keeping a history of bug fixes
7/89 and new features. Added frame control and
separate parameter files in the command line.
(Thanks to Tom Hazel - InfoQuest BBS)
